The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declared to host a mini version of Indian Premier League (IPL) overseas in every September, commencing from this year. It is also reckoned as the mini IPL” or “IPL overseas”. Anurag Thakur, BCCI president, also revealed that the dates and format will be declared shortly at the working committee meeting in Dharamsala on Friday. Thakur was quoted in a report from ESPNCricinfo saying, “In the month of September, the BCCI is willing to host a mini IPL or IPL overseas. [It will be] a shorter format, not home and away matches but a lesser number of matches; in a two-week window we will be able to complete it.” ALSO READ: Nick Compton to take an indefinite break from cricket
Fans are excited as there will more entertainment and more players will get a chance to showcase their talent on the big stage. T20 is a format which is loved by fans across the globe. IPL is a hit in India and BCCI is certainly eyeing to carry the similar passion overseas.
