After the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, the Bangladesh series will be the fresh start for Team India. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today announced the squads for the upcoming Bangladesh tour, which includes one Test match and three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) starting from 10th June, 2015. Virat Kohli will lead in the Test whereas MS Dhoni will be seen marshalling the troops in the ODI’s.
The announcement was made by the five-member selection panel headed by Sandeep Patil and he decided to go with strong sides. The high-point of the selection was of out of sorts’ off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who has been selected for the single Test. The 34-year-old has picked up 413 wickets in 101 Tests and last played for India in the Hyderabad Test against Australia in March 2013.
“It feels like a fresh beginning for me. It’s a new innings which I want to start on a confident note and make the best possible use of the chance that I have got,” an ecstatic Harbhajan said in a report from Press Trust of India (PTI).
“With several left-handers in the Bangladesh team, we decided to go in with two off-spinners in Harbhajan and [Ravichandran] Ashwin in the Test squad,” chairman of selectors Sandeep Patil told reporters in Mumbai.
Mohammad Shami’s knee injury has kept him out of this tour and the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) and the selectors picked medium pacer Dhawal Kulkarni to replace him in the ODI squad.
