Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Jagmohan Dalmiya in a report from PTI, is said to be stable after he underwent an angiography at a city hospital late on Thursday. The 75-year-old had suffered a massive heart attack late on Thursday night and he was rushed to the hospital after he complained of chest pain.

Dalmiya hasn’t been keeping well for some time now. As a matter of fact, he has been unwell since he took over the post in March this year. In last few days, the calls for Dalmiya to step down were gaining momentum in Indian cricket circle. In the meantime, it was the BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur, who was virtually calling the shots in Indian cricket.

As astute administrator, Dalmiya has had a significant influence on Indian cricket. He has twice served as the BCCI President and was even the ICC President for one term. He played an instrumental role in bringing the World Cup to the subcontinent, when his efforts won the hosting rights for India and Pakistan in 1987 and then in 1996, with Sri Lanka also getting the right.  He became the BCCI President again in March this year amidst turbulent times after the Indian cricket’s credibility was on an all time low. He did a commendable job in clearing the mess and getting Indian cricket back on track.
