“Best friend” Clarke misses out a berth in Warne’s greatest Australian ODI XI

It may be almost nine years since spin legend Shane Warne retired from international cricket but he does have a knack of being in the news.On Saturday morning, through a Facebook post, he announced the greatest Australian ODI XI of last 25 years i.e. from 1990.

Warne, who is not only a huge fan of the recently retired Michael Clarke but also his best friend, has not selected the Australia’s 2015 World Cup winning skipper in the side. He has named his first skipper Allan Border as the side’s captain ahead of two-time World Cup winning captain Ricky Ponting. In another debatable decision, he picked Mark Waugh ahead of Matthew Hayden as the side’s opener.

Warner said that selecting the No.4 for the side was a tough job and it came down to Mike Hussey, Damien Martyn, Darren Lehmann and Clarke, which the went to the former.
