The second edition of the ongoing Blind T20I World Cup is being held in India. Currently, hosts India are playing Pakistan in the summit clash at Bengaluru. Before the toss, New Zealand’s team performed the Haka dance. The Haka is a famous Maori traditional war-cry dance on the venue. Haka involves rigorous movements and tapping of the feet with rhythmically shouted accompaniment. It was first performed by New Zealand football team in 1888-89 and then has been widely popularised by New Zealand’s rugby team — All Blacks. New Zealand’s blind team could not muster a single win in the entire tournament and finished last in the league stage but came out all guns blazing to watch the finale on Sunday.
Their cheered-up attitude speaks volumes of their ability to take up their current miseries in good stride and not dwell upon it for long.
