Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee had a fantastic first innings in the field of cricket as a fearsome fast bowler. He terrorised the best batsmen from the world over with his lethal bowling during his playing days. And now, post-retirement, he is all set to venture into his second innings — as an actor. Lee’s first release ‘Unindian’ will hit the theatres on August 19 across the globe.
Ahead of the release, the speedster is not leaving any stone unturned and is busy promoting his flick in India. He was recently seen on popular tv shows ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ and ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai’ in the same regard. And now, reports have emerged that Lee has invited Bollywood superstars Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta, besides Sachin Tendulkar, for a special screening of his film. “The screening will be before the release of the film here in India. We have invited a number of cricketers and Bollywood stars. We have invited Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Preity Zinta and others,” Lee told a news agency. On asked whether he was excited to get a chance to act, he said, “The person you see on the cricket field playing is different. I have been a movie buff, I have loved watching blockbuster films. And now I had the chance to act in a film and I was excited about it.”
It is notable here that Shahrukh and Zinta have been co-owners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) which Lee has represented in the past, while Tendulkar has been a good friend of Lee from their playing days. The movie, which is made by an Indian producer / director and has Indian artists in other roles, has Indian actress Tannistha Chatterjee as his co-star. It is already creating buzz due to the intimate scenes filmed between the two in the movie.
