November 27, 2014, marked one of the unforgettable days in the history of cricket as Australian batsman Phil Hughes passed away after suffering  a nasty injury at the crease. This terrible incident on the cricket field shook the cricketing world.

Many cricketers paid their tributes to this young Australian in their unique way. Hughes’ best friend and former Australian captain Michael Clarke went emotional while addressing the media after his death. It has been more than a year since that incident took place and a Canberra based singer/songwriter Jack Biilman decided to pay a tribute in his own style.

The musical track is named as ‘Forever Unbeaten’ on late Phil Hughes. As reported by Daily Telegraph, Biilman is an avid follower of cricket and said, “I was watching the news about a week after Phillip’s death and decided to try and write a song in his memory. I’ve written the song from the perspective of an Australian cricket lover, not as a close friend or family of Phillip.”

Prior to releasing the track, Biilman also contacted with Hughes’ family and added, “I contacted the Hughes family as I felt it was just the right thing to do. Three months passed of trying (to contact the family) and I was getting used to the idea of not releasing the song for a long while. Then one afternoon I was sitting at home and my phone rang with Megan (Phillip’s sister) on the line. She thanked me for my gesture and discussed the release which was a surreal experience as I was so happy to hear from her.”
