West Indian cricket star Chris Gayle, who is known for his flamboyant and colourful nature both on and off the field, perhaps went a bit too far this time when he misbehaved with a female reporter during an interview on the sidelines of a Big Bash League (BBL) match.
Gayle, who was being interviewed by Channel Ten sideline reporter Mel McLaughlin during a post-innings interview, tried to make advances at the good-looking presenter by asking her out for a drink after the match. Making things worse, the burly Jamaican even went on to ask McLaughlin not to blush by saying, “don’t blush baby.” Video: Find out what will happen when Chris Gayle owns a cricket team!
McLaughlin maintained her composure at this sudden proposition, before tersely responding “I’m not blushing” as Gayle awkwardly laughed the comment off. She even brushed the incident off and got the conversation back on the match and a potential hamstring injury for Gayle.
He had just been dismissed for a quickfire 41 off 15 balls in the Melbourne Renegades’ comfortable win over the Hobart Hurricanes when this incident happened. This act of indecency on Gayle’s part has drawn stern criticism online as the Twitterati bashed him for his embarrassing act. Watch the video and read the reactions from Twitterati here:

Just embarrassing from Chris Gayle. Credit to interviewer doing her job but the guy clearly has zero respect. #BBL05 https://t.co/H8MWhUxfoT

Imagine if that was Warnie and not Chris Gayle… Warnie would be slaughtered. And so should Chris Gayle. Interviews aren’t a pickup joint

Not smooth or clever from @henrygayle. Just going for cheap laughs. @Mel_Mclaughlin wasn’t playing. Her professionalism re-inforced.
