Chris Gayle​, ​one of ​the most dangerous batsm​en in contemporary cricket​, played a breath-taking innings in a T20 match against Kent while featuring for Somerset in the Nat​W​est ​T​20 Blast on Sunday​. Gayle ​scored an unbeaten 151 off 62 deliveries​ with the help of 25 fours and 15 sixes. This was his 15​th​ T20 ​hundred.
Kent won the toss elected to bat first​. They suffered an early blow​,​ but DJ Bell-Drummond and SA Northeast posted a 94​-​run partnership ​t​o weather the early storm. Northeast anchored the Kent innings and scored a career​-​defining century​. He smashed 114 off 58 deliveries. Eventually Kent posted ​an imposing ​227 in their 20 overs​.
​When the match came down to the final over, Somerset required 17 runs off the last six deliveries​. But it took two balls before Gayle got the strike to score 17 off four balls. It was a bit too much in the end and Somerset lost by three runs.
