It seems India are not finding an answer to this West Indian hurdle. The young West Indian side beat them to lift the ICC Under-19 World Cup final earlier this year, then their women’s team knocked India out of the ICC Women’s World T20 2016 as they marched to final and now against all odds, the men’s side downed MS Dhoni’s India to reach the final of the ICC World T20 2016.
Till the batting Powerplay of West Indies, everything was going in India’s way but then came two no-balls, few ordinary overs which cost the hosts the semi-final of the mega event.
West Indies once again displayed their depth in batting as they chased down the massive 193. Mind it, they chased it down despite Chris Gayle’s failure at the top. Lendl Simmons, who came in the squad in place of injured Andre Fletcher, blasted an unbeaten 81 at his IPL home ground, to see his side through. He was well supported by Johnson Charles and Andre Russell.
There were delightful scenes at Mumbai as the Caribbean players danced to their own tunes after winning the match. Cricket fraternity applauded them for their big win and we bring you the best of the tweets. Who says West Indies cricket is on a decline?
Congrats to both West Indies #WI men and women team. Playing the #final of #WT20. Fantastic all round display @westindies and @windieswomen
