When girls go to watch international cricket matches at the grounds — or even watch on the television — it’s not just for cricket. Befitting their age, they also feast on the good looks of the players. As a college-going girl herself, Tulika Bhattacharya  picks 11 men who send female hearts fluttering.

Here is the dream XI of hunks:

1.  Alastair Cook:

Tall, dark-haired, chiseled jaw line and British, what more can anybody ask for! There is something serene about his personality; one can never see him lose control of his emotions. His emotional quotient is as appealing as his cricketing quotient when he is in front of the mike. The English captain has impeccable and unimpeachable cricketing credentials as well. The stylish left-handed opener is the second youngest, after Sachin Tendulkar, to go past 5,000 Test runs when 26 and also has 25 centuries in Tests under his belt, thereby becoming England’s leading century-maker.

2. Brendon McCullum:

New Zealand’s premium wicket-keeper batsman, “Bazz”— as he is fondly known — is downright delectable with his tattooed biceps, dazzling smile, and a ballistic approach with his bat. The deep, blue-gray eyed Kiwi batsmanis the only player to have scored two Twenty20 International centuries and 2000 runs in T20 Internationals. Good looks, aggression and flair, Brendon McCullum is a perfect package!

3. Francois du Plessis:

The South African all-rounder Francois ‘Faf’ du Plessis’s ability to score runs all around the wicket does earn him brownie points with the ladies along with his winsomeness. Blessed with features of a Hollywood star, it didn’t come as a surprise when the social media went berserk posting ‘close enough’ posts of the South African cricketer with Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal. ‘Faf’ grabbed the headlines on his arrival in international cricket with a hundred on Test debut against Australia to underline his cricketing credentials. But it’s his killer physique, blue eyes and gorgeous looks that makes girls go weak in their knees. ‘Faf’ is indeed a dish!

4. Kevin Pietersen:

The South African-born former English cricketer and the official bad boy for the English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has a major female fan following across the world as much for his cricket as for his muscular physique and alluring tattoos. The 6 feet 4 inches Pietersen’s captivating and eventful life does make up for a perfect movie script. In 2013, Kevin Pietersen became the highest run-scorer for England in all international forms of the game combined. The unorthodox in him led him to perfect the ‘Switch shot’ and the rebel in him resulted in his sacking from the team. Yet, he owns a space in every girl’s hearts! “KP” is a maverick that appeals to Gen Next with frequent experiments with his colourful and unorthodox hair-dos. Pietersen broke millions of female hearts when he married Liberty X singer Jessica Taylor in December 2007. But girls still love rebel without pause!

5. Yuvraj Singh:

No Indian cricketer, past or present, has as much been a ladies man as Yuvraj Singh. Tall, fair and strikingly good looking, this Punjabi has dated some of most desirous women in the country. His sex appeal will get him a perfect 10 with the females while his six appeal — remember his six sixes in an over of Stuart Broad? — will get him a 10 from the males. His winning battle against cancer and his subsequent comeback into the Indian team has added to his appeal. Yuvi gets full marks in the hot-o-meter. And let it not be forgotten that he is still a bachelor who public perception is of “single ready to mingle!”

6. Suresh Raina:

Everything about Suresh Raina screams adorable! The boy-next-door looks is quite deceiving when he wields the willow. The happy-go-lucky Raina is extremely popular among the female populace for his super cute features, ripping muscles and a smile that melts every girl’s heart. An attacking left-hander, an occasional off- spin bowler and an outstanding fielder in the circle, Mr. Consistent has been an asset to the Indian cricket team and an eye-candy for all the women who watch cricket just to catch a glimpse of this super charming cricketer. His name has been linked to the gorgeous actress-singer Shruti Hasan. Of course, Raina has denied the rumours. And so be it. Our man is still a bachelor!

7. George Bailey:

The Tasmanian right-hand batsman is an absolute poster boy — the ideal guy that every parent would like for their daughter. Bailey never ceases to flash his pearly whites irrespective of situation, in course softening the hearts of millions. Adding to his appeal are his credentials of being the first man to captain Australia on international debut. The adorable, baby-faced George Bailey is an ornament not just to this line-up but to world cricket. With someone like Bailey around, cricket can still legitimately be called the gentleman’s game.

8. Daniel Vettori:

The nerd-like yet extremely handsome former Kiwi captain and bowling all-rounder makes the cut for being the kind of guy you take home to meet your parents. A handy lower-order batsman, Daniel Vettori is the youngest player to have represented New Zealand in Test cricket, having made his debut at the age of 18, and is the most-capped Test cricketer with 112 caps for his national team. If you think someone wearing spectacles is not delectable, take a good look at Danny boy!

9. Stuart Broad:

The tall Englishman is another eye-candy. The impression given by his blonde-hair, baby-faced charm is quite opposite to that on the field. He charges at close to 145 kmph, much to the horror of the batsman facing him. Temperamental and feisty, the 6ft 5 in fast bowler’s chocolate boy looks has women swooning for him.

10. Brett Lee:

He is widely acknowledged as one of the best looking cricketers of the world with one of the largest number of female admirers. Looks best suited for Hollywood and musical talent to boast about, the Australian is a catch. Lana Anderson, you lucky lady! (Weeping). “Binga” – as he is affectionately called – has a perpetual smile on his face, but don’t go by those innocent looks when he has the ball in his hand! He is indeed a terror as his 690 international wickets testify.

11. James Anderson:

At 6’2″, England’s bowling spearhead James Anderson fits the bill of being called as one of the attractive men among the current crop of cricketers along with being England’s go-to man to destroy the opposition’s batting line-up. James Anderson shed his clothes completely and appeared nude for Britain’s popular gay magazine — “Attitude”! Keep doing the good work going for the sake of men — and women – alike, Jimmy!
