It is a known fact that Navjot Singh Sidhu is happily married to Navjot Kaur Sidhu. However, here is an interesting statistical fact. Mrs Sidhu brought a lot of luck to Mr Sidhu. His performance in Test cricket only got better after he got married.
There has been many statistical analysis on every cricketer’s performance, especially when it comes to Test cricket, as it is the oldest and toughest format of the game. Digging out a player’s performance on their before and after marriage is probably the most interesting and funniest analysis. IPL 2016, Match 15, Pick of the tweets: Gujarat Lions vs Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajkot
During the ongoing game of Indian Premier League between Gujarat Lions and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajkot, the broadcasting channel of the tournament — Sony came across this analysis of players’ performance before and after getting hitched. Sidhu clearly tops the chart in that. Before marriage, his average was of just 13 and after that, his average boomed to 43.32.
Well, there were few cricketers too, whose average barely differs. Wedding did not have a major impact in the careers of Rameez Raja and AB de Villiers. For the likes of MS Dhoni, the average has only gone down post marriage and among current cricketers, David Warner seems to be enjoying a purple patch in Test cricket post his marriage in 2015.
Well, it will be interesting to see a similar analysis on players who got married more than once, especially when it comes to players like Bill Edrich and Hugh Tayfield who got married five times.
