The ‘Champions’ minus Darren Sammy are back in the Caribbean colours. If the Test series between India and West Indies have bored you to the core and if you have missed the ICC World T20 champions then gear up for some excitement.
India will be playing 2 Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) against West Indies at Florida. Both the matches will be played after the four Tests series, on August 27 and 28.
The West Indies T20 team will be quite different, as West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has announced a new captain for the side. The two-time World T20 winning captain Sammy has been sacked by the board and will be replaced by Carlos Brathwaite. ALSO READ: Carlos Brathwaite named West Indies T20I captain; Twitter reacts
Heavyweights Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Samuel Badree, Andre Russell and others make a return to the side. They will be further boosted with the inclusion of Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine, two big names who missed the ICC World T20 2016.
These big names are fresh from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) where Gayle’s Jamaica Tallawah’s ended as the champions. Last time, India squared off against West Indies in T20Is was the semi-final of the World T20 at Mumbai, which the latter went on to win and another win later, they lifted the silverware at Kolkata.
West Indies T20I squad: Andre Fletcher, Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite (captain), Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Evin Lewis, Jason Holder, Johnson Charles, Kieron Pollard, Lendl Simmons, Marlon Samuels, Samuel Badree, Sunil Narine.
