Harbhajan Singh once asked Darren Lehmann, ‘if he was ‘pregnant?’

Harbhajan may not have been the biggest of cricketers but he did not hold back if the oppositions rubbed him the wrong way.

Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has played a lot of international cricket . He represented India in a generation where Australia were a dominant force across formats. Harbhajan may not have been the biggest of cricketers but he did not hold back if the oppositions rubbed him the wrong way. He represented India in 103 Tests after debuting in 1998 and have some amazing anecdotes in his memory. India and Australia have played a lot of cricket against each other and during this course, they have created several memories, which are still cherished by the fans. On this occasion, Harbhajan opened up on his altercation with the current Australian coach Darren Lehmann and former speedster Glenn McGrath. He had many on-field brawls with the duo but this one turns out to be the funniest. Harbhajan once asked Lehmann if he was ‘pregnant’ while referring to his over-sized stomach. Harbhajan was quoted while speaking in ‘Aap ki Adalat’ saying, “Australians felt they were the biggest superstars, nobody can beat them, they always looked to dominate. But we were from a generation which was never docile. I come from Punjab and Punjabis by nature always speak their minds.”

“I was batting and (Darren) Lehmann was continuously sledging me. He had a huge stomach and his slack string used to hang out like Shakti Kapoor’s. I was so much perturbed over his sledging that I pointed towards his abdomen and asked: ‘Are you pregnant?’ Lehmann told this to Shane Warne who burst out laughing. Warne asked me whether I said this…’ Well, players shouldn’t have such huge stomachs,” he added.

On his spat with McGrath while batting, Harbhaja said, “(Glenn) McGrath sledged me a lot. He felt who’s this guy playing after I have dismissed top batsmen. I replied back. He used to sledge once, I replied thrice, he sledged twice, I replied five times. A time came when the Australians stopped sledging me. ”
