Indian women’s cricket team’s vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur has inscribed her name in the history of cricket by becoming the first Indian women’s cricketer to sign for Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). Harmanpreet will be representing the Sydney Thunder in the high-voltage tournament. It’s a magnificent move in Harmanpreet’s career, as she will get some huge exposure and further develop her game.
Harmanpreet also reckoned this moment of becoming the first Indian cricketer to play in the WBBL as ‘great’. “It’s a great feeling. The WBBL is a great platform for women’s cricketers, being the first player from my country to sign a contract for a BBL club is one of my best moments,” she said to the Sydney Thunder website.
“I was looking at a franchise where I would have opportunities to showcase my talent. That’s why I was keen on Sydney Thunder. My aim is to serve my team to win the WBBL title for the second time in a row. Playing with the best players against the best players is always a great feeling. I would definitely learn a lot of things from them all,” Harmanpreet added.
BCCI President Anurag Thakur also wished Harmanpreet Kaur on this occasion and tweeted:
