In a first, the Cricket Australia (CA) has for the first time in their broadcast history introduced Hindi commentary during the three match Twenty20 International (T20I) series between India and Australia that commences on Tuesday. The telecast of Hindi commentary is a move aimed at catering to the sizeable Indian community in the country.
“Every ball of the Australia and India KFC T20 INTL Series will be broadcast to Australian audiences in Hindi via the CA Live App and cricket.com.au, as part of a new partnership between Cricket Australia and Indian Link Media Group,” CA said in a release. The move is a first in more than 80 years of Australian cricket’s broadcasting.
The CA also sent a tweet through their official media and communications Twitter handle, which read: “History in the making – the first time Hindi commentary is available during an Aust. summer #asportforall #AUSvIND”

The Hindi broadcast is part of a wider partnership between Cricket Australia and Indian Link that has been formed to further connect Australia’s Indian community with cricket. The Indian community is growing rapidly in Australia and it includes some of cricket’s most passionate fans.
Members of Indian Link’s commentary team have been selected from Australia’s Indian community, having won the chance to commentate alongside its established broadcast team through a recent online competition.
