A Roger Federer-Novak Djokovic tennis match is a dream one for the fans. The tennis giants met in the Australian Open semi-final at Melbourne and the members of cricket fraternity came in numbers to show their support to tennis giant Roger Federer.
Federer, one of tennis’ greatest ever, has now slipped to No.3 in rankings at the twilight end of his career and was up against the No.1 Djokovic. Most of the current cricketers, who grew up during Federer’s peak in 2000s, came in attendance and expressed their support to the Swiss player. After losing the first two sets, Federer came back strongly to win the third set 6-3. Read more: Virat Kohli-Yuvraj Singh catch the Federer-Djokovic clash live
Virat Kohli is in attendance to support Federer, who also plays for him in the former’s ITPL franchise UAE Royals. After Federer won the third set, Kohli’s Australian counterpart Steve Smith too immediately tweeted. Two days prior to this match, Kohli and Smith were involved in an ugly controversy when the former gave the Australian a send-off after he was dismissed.
The Federer fandom has brought the rivals to the same camp for a change and that is not all, most from the cricket world expressed their support for the Swiss legend. Despite the support Federer lost to Djokovic 6-1, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to crash out of the tournament.
