Back in ICC Cricket World Cup 2003, Shane Warne was sent back after he was tested positive on a banned substance losing a year of his international cricket. He said it was his mother who gave him the tablet. Twelve years later, 25-year-old Bangladeshi pace bowler Al-Amin Hossain is being sent home from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 for breaking the team curfew.
As reported by The Daily Observer, Shah Alam Amin, father of the bowler said, “Our family is very sad with the incident. My son is more upset because he took the rule of going out from hotel after 10 pm dead-line very easy. He was unaware about the consequences.”
The upset parent further added, “Al-Amin does not carry a bad boy image. He had previously followed all rules and regulations. He even followed the process and all rules to get his bowling action tested. We don’t understand why did he break the curfew rule. World Cup is a mega event and is a dream of all players to play. Alas, this was not in his destiny”.
Alam Amin, who is a government employee said that they had a discussion with him after the incident and the cricketer was very upset.
He added, “When he reaches home our advice will be to observe overseas rules and regulations. He is an obedient boy and will never ever cross the rule-book”.
Al-Amin’s mother, Munnawar Begam, asked for forgiveness for her son.
“Since this is the first time offence created by my son, I plead for mercy. He should be forgiven and allowed to play.”
The mother’s wishes might not come true but ICC may allow a replacement for him to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
