Sri Lanka are going strong in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015; after losing their first game, they have notched up three consecutive victories to get to second in the Pool A points table. But injuries to players has become a worry, last week Jeevan Mendis was injured and went back home as Upul Tharanga was called in.
Now, a key player Rangana Herath has picked up an injury during their match against England on Sunday. Herath injured his fingers when he dived to stop the ball off Jos Buttler’s bat. As a result, of which he got four stitches on his fingers. Leg spinner Seekuge Prasanna has been called in as a cover for Herath as reported by Sri Lanka cricket.
Prasanna, who was the part of the Sri Lanka squad during the last One-Day International (ODI) series against New Zealand, did not get a game, may play in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 if Herath fails to recover. The young leg spinner has played 22 ODIs and has taken 21 wickets.
