For the very first time in the 50-over World Cup history, Zimbabwe meet United Arab Emirates in One-Day International (ODI) match. They have met in a Twenty20 (T20) match previously. For UAE, it is almost after 20 years that they play in a World Cup. The last time they qualified for the world event was way back in 1996.
Both team face each other with certain amount of uncertainty. Not having played against each other, they have to stick to their basics and execute their plans and play smart to win. Zimbabwe are in a good touch, after defeating Sri Lanka in their warm-up game, they fought well against South Africa in their first game which they lost. It is UAE’s first match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, they lost both their warm-up fixtures.
Zimbabwe will look to play with the same team with Hamilton Masakadza being the key player. He showed his brilliance against South African pace attack. Brendon Taylor, Elton Chigumbura will be required as well. On the other side, UAE will bank on their batting especially Khurram Khan, Amjad Ali and wicket-keeper Swapnil Patil.
