When Chris Gayle is on a song, even nine an over is a cakewalk. Luckily, for West Indies, the Jamaican was in that kind of mood in their opening match of the ICC World T20 2016 against England. Winning the toss, Darren Sammy sent England in. At the half way mark when England had to got to 182, they must have patted themselves at the back but they did know about the looming Gayle threat, which soon hit them. ICC World T20 2016, Super 10, Pick of the Tweets: England vs West Indies at Mumbai
Gayle became the first batsman to score two hundreds in World T20s. His first being at Johannesburg in the inaugural World T20I match. Gayle also became the first batsman after Brendon McCullum to register two hundreds in T20Is. Gayle’s remained 100 not out from 48 balls and his innings contained 11 sixes, as West Indies marched to a six-wicket win.
Not only the West Indies got valuable points from this match but the margin of win will have a great impact on their net run rate as the tournament progresses. The Gayle spectacle was widely discussed on Twitter and here are some of the best tweets.
