Imran Khan would have liked Misbah-ul-Haq to lead Pakistan in ICC World T20 2016

Pakistan’s World Cup winning hero Imran Khan has been one of the biggest voices in international cricket. On this occasion, he spoke on his skipper preference for the ICC World T20 2016. The tournament is over and it is irrelevant now but Imran said he would have liked Misbah-ul-Haq to lead the side. Pakistan had a terrible time in the recently concluded ICC World Twenty20 (T20) and lacked a motivating skipper. Speaking to PTI, Imran said he would have appointed Misbah as the captain of the side in the recently ended World Cup. He was quoted as saying, “If I had been there I would have had Misbah-ul-Haq as captain in the recent World T20.”

Imran also said for the sake of stability, team building and preparation there should be one awful conditions of cricket in the country.

Imran also lashed at Najam Sethi and accused him for the languishing condition of the state and awful situation of cricket in the country. He said, “Pakistan cricket was damaged because a person who did election fixing was rewarded with a position in the Pakistan cricket board.”

“One of the negatives of his decision making is that now we have three captains for the three formats and I look at it as a joke because how can you have continuity in your team like this,” Imran added.

Shahid Afridi was the skipper in the tournament and stepped down after the team’s poor run. Sarfraz Ahmed has been named the T20 skipper. Misbah retired from limited-overs cricket post ICC World Cup 2015. He led the side to the quarterfinal.
