The Indian domestic season kick-starts with Duleep Trophy 2016-17. The tournament has historically played an important role in national selections. Players’ performance has been evaluated as they raised ranks in the national side, however, this time not only the format has been changed but there is history in the making as the match between India Red and India Green is set to be the first-ever First-Class match to be played in India with the much talked about pink ball.

The marquee clash will see several national stars in the line-ups as the two sides battle it out at Greater Noida. While the Red side will be led by Yuvraj Singh, the Green side will be marshalled by Suresh Raina.

Earlier, this year we saw the first pink ball match in India being staged at the Eden Gardens during the CAB Super League final. However, it was a club game. In India, matches are played with the SG balls and now Kookaburra pink balls will make its way.
