An India and Pakistan series has always been the most high profile one in the town. There have been lot of discussions and debates over the possibility of a series between two arch rivals of cricket but to no avail. But according to a latest statement by the Chairman of Indian Premier League (IPL) — Rajeev Shukla, the series between the neighbours can happen and that India can even visit Pakistan.

As reported by PTI, Shukla, a senior official from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), advised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to start developing a safe venue in Pakistan instead of playing their home series in UAE. Shukla, in his comment said, “If Pakistan continues to play in UAE, its cricket will slowly slowly suffer. Lahore can easily be made into a safe venue.”

His statement of playing in Pakistan has come as a shocker as playing in Pakistan for India is next to impossible because of the political and internal problems in the troubled country. However, he further clarified on Geo News Channel by saying, “We are saying this time come and play in India. We are ready to compensate for the home series losses we will give bigger participation fees and when things improve in Pakistan we will go there and play one or two series. We have no issues.”

Shukla also raised the issue of ego between the two big teams of cricket and also added that India has no problem in playing in UAE and quipped, “I don’t think this is such a big issue why make an ego issue of it and insist on playing in Dubai only, we have our own policy. We don’t care about what other countries do and what is their policy, we want resumption of cricket ties with Pakistan.”
