An uncertain and inconsistent Delhi Daredevils (DD) will look forward to break their home jinx of losing, when they lock horn with striving Mumbai Indians (MI), in their sixth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 tournament at Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. This game will mark the 21st match of the tournament.
Both the teams had contrasting results in their previous encounters. MI successfully defended a mammoth target of 209 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their venue. Whereas, DD endured a record ninth straight defeat at home since 2013, when Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) chased down the set target of 147 in the 18th over.
MI after a winless drought somehow defied all the odds and bounced back emphatically against RCB to register their maiden win of the season. MI suffered another huge blow when their key all-rounder Corey Anderson was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury; he joins Aaron Finch who too was ruled out earlier in the tournament. MI are also without the services of Josh Hazlewood. Though they have a strong all-round with players like Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, MI will look forward to contain DD at their home venue.
For DD, most of their key players like JP Duminy, Yuvraj Singh, Angelo Matthews, have got a start but failed to capitalise on that. The bowling department looks a bit vulnerable; they were taken for cleaners by Gautam Gambhir and Yusuf Pathan. Neither the pace attack nor the spin magic worked for the team. Both the teams have their hopes pinned on this game to move up in the points table. With the match being played at Delhi, DD emerge as favourites, a high-scoring game is expected. We present you the pick of the tweets.
#DD‘s fielding deserves a special mention…some stellar catches tonight. #IPL
