Mumbai Indians (MI) takes on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 32nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Friday. Both teams had diverging results in their previous encounters. MI defended a decent target of 158 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), whereas RR last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was washed out due to rain.
MI has won only two matches form their seven outings so far in this season. The win against SRH, where they successfully defended a target of 158 will boost their confidence against RR. Lasith Malinga’s return to form is a huge advantage for them as they heavily bank on him to bail them out. Malinga picked four crucial wickets and steered his team over the line. They have a plethora on international players in the team and will look forward to contain RR at their home venue. MI endured a seven wicket loss the last time when these two teams met earlier this season. MI team is peaking at the right moment, and has started to contribute as a unit. Kieron Pollard will be the man to watch out for in today’s game.
RR will seek a revival of fortune in their match against MI. RR lost their way after losing their first game against RCB. Their last two games were washed out. They are comfortably placed at second position in the points table with 12 points. They have a well-oiled team with effective all-rounders like James Faulkner, Shane Watson and Deepak Hooda who can win matches single-handedly. Ajinkya Rahane is the leading run-scorer of the tournament and never failed to provide a solid start. They will look forward to break their losing jinx in the tournament against MI.
The clash between two giants is expected to a fascinating encounter. With the match being played in Mumbai, MI emerge favourites. Expect a run-fest. We present you with the pick of the tweets.
