Mumbai Indians (MI) will look forward to escalate their momentum in their clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday. This match will mark the 23rd match of the tournament.
Both the teams had contrasting result in their previous encounters. Mumbai Indians endured a massive defeat, when they failed to chase down the set target of 190 against Delhi Daredevils (DD), while SRH defended their prudent target of 176 against the table toppers Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by Duckworth and Lewis method.
MI at present is at the bottom of the table with just one victory from their six outings in the tournament so far. MI after a winless drought somehow defied all the odds and bounced back emphatically against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to register their maiden win of the season but they could not carry the momentum in their previous match against DD. Mumbai’s bowling has been a matter of concern after losing two overseas cricketers, Aaron Finch and Corey Anderson due to injury. They have an explosive batting line-up with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard and Lendl Simmons and throughout the tournament their batsmen have done well in patches and they will need to strengthen their bowling attack to contain SRH.
For SRH, things have gone a bit well as they are standing at fifth position with two wins from their five outings. They will be desperate for this victory to escalate in the points table. Their skipper David Warner have led them from the front and played a vital role in their previous encounter against KKR, where he smashed 91 off 55 deliveries. They have a well balanced team with Dale Steyn and Trent Boult leading the bowling attack. All their players are peaking at the right time and they will look to wreck more torment on bottom dwellers MI.
With the match being played at Mumbai, MI emerge as favourites and with the pitch having a reputation of being flat, expect a run-fest when the two titans clash. We present you the pick of the tweets:
