DD won the toss and elected to bowl first on a pitch which had a reputation of low-scoring games in the recent times. SRH got off to a flying start as David Warner once again fired with all guns but on this occasion he failed to convert his start into a big score which he has been doing in the past. He played a good hand of 46 runs and was equally supported by Shikhar Dhawan. The duo stitched 67 runs partnership at the top and laid the foundation for a big score. Warner was dismissed by Jayant Yadav for 46 which put SRH on the back foot as the onus of scoring big runs was on his shoulders. The middle-order was not upto the mark as wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals and they failed to click as a unit. Yuvraj Singh looked good but floundered while attempting a sweep. Chris Morris and Amit Mishra bowled extremely well to chip wickets along with Nathan Coulter-Nile to restrict DD to a modest score of 146 in their 20 overs.
Chasing 147 could well be a task against the dominant bowling attack of SRH which hails of Ashish Nehra, Mustafizur Rahman, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Barinder Sran. But DD batsmen stuck to their guns and came out hard to earn a victory. DD lost an early wicket in the form of Mayank Agarwal but Quinton de Kock confronted the SRH attack with immense confidence.
Kock looked unstoppable but found himself a bit unlucky when he was judged out on a bouncer from Moises Henriques which didn’t look to have got a nick of his bat. Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant took charge and ensured they carried the team over the line as both of them remained unbeaten. Samson scored a tenacious 34 while Pant smashed a quickfire 39 and sealed the game for DD.
