This may be the first season for Gujarat Lions (GL) but the new side have been the most impressive in the ninth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) so far. In Aaron Finch and Brendon McCullum, GL have the most explosive opening combination in the this IPL. While Finch has scored three fifties in as many innings, McCullum has supported him well.
Their bowling department is led by Dwayne Bravo and the Indian bowlers like Dhawal Kulkarni and Praveen Kumar have done a pretty decent job and that has been one of the reasons that Dale Steyn has been sitting out. Their opposition Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost their first two games but came back strong against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Monday, notching up their first win. With Shikhar Dhawan not firing at the top, their batting have heavily relied on skipper David Warner. Yuvraj Singh’s absence has hurt the side.
We can expect a run-fest at Rajkot. Warner has called it right at toss and elected to bowl. The Lions start as the favourites for this game but if SRH play to their potential like they did in their previous game, they might end up laughing last.
