IPL 2016, Match 17: Delhi Daredevils beat Mumbai Indians by 10 runs at Delhi, Stars and Flops
Heroics from Sanju Samson, JP Duminy, Amit Mishra guide Delhi Daredevils to the No. 2 spot in the IPL 2016 Points Table.

You may do all the right things for the majority of the match and still end on the losing side. Such is the beauty of this format and Mumbai Indians (MI) learned it the tough way. They won the all-important toss and did not let the hosts Delhi Daredevils (DD) score much. It was the batting of Sanju Samson and JP Duminy, which helped DD to 164.
Rohit Sharma once again played a responsible innings and laid the foundation for the chase but that was not enough. There seemed to be lack of planning or overreliance on Kieron Pollard at the end. When Krunal Pandya was dismissed after his cameo in the 13th over, MI needed 62 from 44 balls. With seven wickets in hand and Rohit still at the wicket, you expect the batting team to win. MI’s two foreign recruit failed miserably. Amit Mishra got DD back in the game, first dismissing the dangerous looking Ambati Rayudu and then he dismissed Jos Buttler leg before for two. Pollard did not have a merry time against Mishra and managed to score 19 from 18 balls. The time taken by Pollard only meant the run-rate soared at one end and even Rohit failed to get going at the end.
Turning Point: Krunal’s wicket put MI in the back foot but they had enough firepower to win from that position but that was not to be. When DD skipper Zaheer Khan came to bowl the penultimate over, MI needed 32 from 12 balls. Rohit and Pollard and kept it for late but both were capable of achieving the same. Zaheer altered the length brilliantly and gave five runs from his first four balls. 27 from eight balls was going to be tough and Pollard then dismissed a low full-toss a six and got out in the next over. 11 came from it and the swung in DD’ favour.
With 21 needed from the final over, Rohit smacked the second ball for a six but a terrible mix-up saw his departure the next ball. DD by then had sealed it. They now move to the No.2 spot in the IPL Points Table.
