Just a week back, Eden Gardens in Kolkata witnessed the final of the ICC World T20 2016 and it was a thrilling encounter between West Indies and England. Carlos Brathwaite with four sixes in the final over sealed it for West Indies. The Barbadian is now back at the same ground but will be in Delhi Daredevils (DD) colours as they will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in both the side’s first game in the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The well settled Gautam Gambhir-led KKR won the toss against the relatively new look DD and have elected to bowl first. It will be a clash between one settled unit while DD are trying to make a point this season under new captain Zaheer Khan and popular mentor Rahul Dravid.
Sunil Narine will miss the first game for KKR and Brad Hogg walks in while Shakib Al Hasan misses out on selection. KKR are playing new recruits John Hastings and Colin Munro. For DD, the four overseas players are Brathwaite, Chris Morris, Quinton de Kock and Nathan Coulter-Nile. This means Imran Tahir misses out. Pawan Negi, whom DD bought for an exorbitant amount in the auctions, will also be one of the players to watch out for.
