It’s just the beginning of the ninth season of Indian Premier League (IPL) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have suffered a major blow with Australian batsman Shaun Marsh being admitted to hospital. The KXIP side are supposed to play their first match on Monday and Marsh has been the only foreign player to remain in the side since the inception of this tournament.
As reported by cricket.com.au, the 32-year-old batsman was admitted as a precaution because of food poisoning. Not only Marsh, two other foreign players are currently suffering from the same issue. Marcus Stoinis and Kyle Abbott were also suffering from food poisoning but they have recovered to be available for selection at Mohali.
Marsh is currently nine runs short of completing his 2,000 runs in IPL for KXIP. His exclusion may pave way for Stoinis into the playing XI of KXIP.
