It was believed that the cash-rich Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20), which began in 2009, was about to get scrapped as the tournament failed miserably.

In the Working Committee meeting on Sunday at Kolkata, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have taken a decision to scrap the tournament, which is considered to be the richest in the game.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, BCCI had a meeting with the Champions Governing Council. Both Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa have been already informed about the problem the broadcaster Star Sports faced in continuing the alliance with the cash-laden tourney.  It is believed that Star Sports have been losing $100 million per year.

“The meeting will be called sooner than later. The discussions have been going on for a while,” said CSA president Chris Nenzani.
