Former England bowler Isa Guha, who was part of the team that won the Ashes and World Cup, has been appointed as the first ever woman expert summarizer on the iconic Radio 4 cricket programme.

Isa will be seen making an expert comment after an over has been bowled, which was once the privilege of men. She will be working along with Sir Geoffrey Boycott and Jonathan Agnew.

Speaking about the gender difference and becoming the first Asian to represent England, Isa was quoted by Daily Mail, “The generation gap makes the broadcast different. You still have Blowers [Henry Blofeld], Aggers [Jonathan Agnew] and Boycott, but then you have Graeme Swann and Michael Vaughan and the likes of myself. I’ve always been an England fan. I was born and bred here. Thirty per cent of cricketers in this country are from an Asian background but there are huge amounts of players from Asian backgrounds who perhaps don’t feel there is a pathway for them to the England team. It’s about changing the mindset of Asian communities that it’s OK to play for England.”
