After losing the Twenty20 (T20) series against the South Africa by 2-0, Indian cricket team will be eager to taste the joy of victory in the first One-Day International (ODI) at Green Park, Kanpur on Sunday. [Pick of the tweets: India vs South Africa, 1st ODI at Kanpur]
This will be the first ODI for India at home after a long period of almost one year and since November 2014, team India has not won a single ODI series, irrespective of playing at home or away. During the T20 series, the opening batting order of India totally failed but it seems to be a different story when it comes to ODIs as the same pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma has got good number of runs between them since the time they have formed their alliance in 2013. While the Proteas will also like to start the series with a win and ofcourse their main spearhead bowlers, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel are back in the squad.
This ODI series will probably decide the fate of many young players of both South Africa and Indian team who are very much new to international cricket. South Africa has won the toss and opted to bat first. Here are the playing XIs of both the teams:
India:
Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina, MS Dhon (captain), Stuart Binny, R Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Bhuvneshra Kumar and Umesh Yadav.
South Africa:
Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis, AB de Villiers, David Miller, JP Duminy, Farhan Berhardien, Dale Steyn, Kagiso Rabada, Morne Morkel and Imran Tahir.
