India’s middle order batsman Manish Pandey scored his maiden One-Day International (ODI) hundred and kept his team’s hopes of winning the game alive. He completed his hundred from just 80 balls, which was well supported by Rohit Sharma and further captain MS Dhoni from the other end. He contributed when his team needed the most and brought up his century in style. India needed six off the final four balls, Mitchell Marsh bowled an excellent yorker outside off stump but Pandey’s presence of mind guided the ball towards third man for a priceless boundary and helped India seal their first victory in the series so far.

Earlier, Pandey was the part of the team in first two matches of the series but got a chance to bat only on one occasion. In this match, he was brought in as a replacement for Ajinkya Rahane and has certainly justified his selection. His previous best score in limited overs cricket was an unbeaten 71, which came against Zimbabwe in 2015 in his debut match. He is probably emerging as the man of important matches.
