MS Dhoni: The record holder for most stumpings in international cricket

The Indian wicketkeeper overtook Sri Lanka’s Sangakkara, when he stumped Johnson off the bowling of Ashwin.

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Saturday set the record of most number of stumpings in international cricket during the third Test against Australia in the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The Indian wicketkeeper overtook Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara, when he stumped Mitchell Johnson off the bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin. Dhoni, now tops the list with 134 stumpings.

Dhoni reached the landmark in his 460th innings, while Sangakka has 133 stumpings from 485 innings. Third in the list is Romesh Kaluwitharana with 101 stumpings from 270 innings.

Dhoni made his international debut in December 2004 and has been India’s first choice wicketkeeper since then.
