Rahul Ghosh, another young cricketer hospitalised in Kolkata with on-field injury

Just a day after the 21-year-old Ankit Keshri’s death due to a collision with a player in a cricket match, Rahul Ghosh, a teenage cricketer in West Bengal was admitted to hospital after sustaining a serious on-field injury in a second division match between Kolkata Police and Vijay Sports.

Playing in the semi-final of the CAB second division tournament, Ghosh was hit on the head while fielding at the covers and was taken to the Nightingale Hospital for treatment.

“He has an injury in the left side of the head. There was bleeding. CT scan has been done. It shows a clot. He is now stable but has to be kept under observation for seven to eight days. Before that nothing conclusive can be said,” the attending doctor said in a report from IANS.

The incident has come as another shock for the city of joy that is yet to recover from Keshri’s demise on Monday. The former under-19 level skipper Keshri died after he collided with his fellow teammate Sourav Mondol while taking a catch.
