Disgraced Indian cricketer Shanthakumaran Sreesanth will make his Bollywood debut with Richa Chadda in Kaustav Narayan Niyogi’s upcoming film Cabaret, which will be produced by Pooja Bhatt.

The plot of the film has been built around a a dancer, which will be played by Richa and Sreesanth will act as her mentor. According to reports, he has signed an amount of Rs 5 Lakh for singing.

Pooja was dropping the film’s executive producer Sonu Lakhwani to Sreesanth’s house and the executive producer suggested the cricketer’s name. While going through Sreesanth’s wedding  video Pooja found that the cricketer exactly matches the character.

Sreesanth, who plays the role of Chetta will be based in Dubai in the film. Richa’s character and Chetta meets at an important point and their lives change. While speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Pooja said, “Sreesanth speaks Hindi with a slight Malayali accent and that’s just what I was looking for. Initially, we had thought of casting an elderly actor as Richa’s mentor but once I met Sreesanth, the dynamics changed. His look in the film is the same as that in his wedding picture which Sonu showed me. Having Sreesanth in the film is a win-win situation–those who love him will watch the film, those who hate him will also come to see him. He is at a interesting phase in his life.”
