Guyanese cricketer and former West Indies captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul called it a day from international cricket on Friday. He is the first Indo-Caribbean cricketer to have played 100 Tests cricket for West Indies.

This is the international retirement by any cricketer this year after Nathan Hauritz of Australia. Chanderpaul is best known for his unusual batting stance and ability to held on to his guns on any wicket.

Chanderpaul made his Test debut back in March 1994 against England and since then he has played 164 Tests, 268 One-Day International (ODI) and 22 Twenty20 (T20) International. After Lara, he is the second highest run getter for West Indies in Tests with 11,867 runs at a staggering average of 51.37.

Chanderpaul played his last Test against England in 2015, which West Indies won by five wickets and level the series. From there on, he was dropped from the side.
