Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had a great season in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). The team under the captaincy of Virat Kohli has gelled well and registered some brilliant performances to reach the playoffs. The likes of Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Mitchell Starc in contrast to previous seasons had fine outings with RCB and helped the team win decisive matches. But, at the most crucial juncture against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the team stumbled and eventually got eliminated in this edition of IPL.
But, what troubled RCB and its fans most was the interruption of rain gods during their matches. The team failed to find momentum and in some matches they were compelled to be satisfied with a single point. In the overall season, RCB witnessed heavy showers in five matches, in which two matches went in the their favour and the other two games got abandoned. The solitary loss in a rain curtailed match came against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), where the team fell short by 22 runs.
Despite Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) being the reigning champions, Siddharth Mallya took to Twitter and poked fun at his own franchise by calling them the ‘raining champions’.
#KKR may have been the ‘reigning’ champions, during this #IPL, but #RCB were without doubt the, ‘raining’ champions

This showed the sporting spirit of Sid as he didn’t stop in injecting humour regardless of RCB’s elimination in this season.
