Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who has led India to memorable wins on foreign soil, feels that accuracy is an issue with the Indian bowlers when playing abroad, and the side needs someone like Anil Kumble as the mentor. Why not?
Kumble, who has led India in Test cricket, has been one of the country’s finest bowlers with 956 international wickets and possesses a smart cricketing brain.
India slumped to another overseas series defeat in Australia in the current tour. The streak that began in England 2011, continued in Australia later that year to South Africa in 2013-14, to New Zealand and England last year to Australia now.
One of the reasons has been India’s rickety bowling attack, which was again clobbered on the fourth day of the Sydney Test. The visitors managed to scrape through a draw but that doesn’t solve the problem.
India have tried various bowling combination over the past three and half years but none have clicked consistently so far. Time and again tail-enders have come to their team’s rescue against the uninspiring Indian bowling and this Australia tour was no different.

As reported by NDTV, Ganguly also said, “Our bowlers have targeted middle-stump. The reason why (Nathan) Lyon has picked so many wickets is because he has focused on the region just outside off. That is the right place. These are the small problems that Kumble can help our bowlers fix.”
