Abhishek Kumar picks 10 epic commercial ads which features the former Indian captain.

1.  Wielding the sword in Sona Chandi Chawanprash Ad

This ad came in 2001 where Ganguly is seen showing his mastery in sword wielding. Ganguly features in the advertisement along with a couple of Bengal cricket team players. Watch a young boy whose strength’s secret is Sona Chandi Chawanprash getting the better of the Indian captain.

 

2.  Riding CBZ and shaking legs with Hritik Roshan in Hero Honda commercial

Ganguly was known for dancing down the ground and smacking sixes, but in this ad he moved in dance’s literal form. He was the brand ambassador for Hero Honda in early 2000s and in this ad we see him and Bollywood superstar Hritik Roshan outdoing each other in order to win challenge.

 

3.  The Bengal Tiger, African lion and Team India feature in the World Cup 2003 Pepsi Ad

The hilarious ad came before the 2003 World Cup in South Africa. Team India practicing in the African jungles disturb a resting lion and rest is for you to see.

 

4.  The Captain advocates for Captain TMT Iron bars

In this touching ad, Ganguly speaks about the difference between scoring runs and winning hearts. He compares the attributes of a good leader with the brand.

 

5.  India-Pakistan play the Friendship Series; Team India are willing to share everything but not Pepsi

India toured Pakistan in 2004 for a Friendship Series. Indian players are caught in the mood of companionship and are willing to share several goodies with their archrivals. All amity is however forgotten when captain Ganguly asks the team to share their Pepsis too.

 

6.  When the Dada got tamed by the Toss Ka Boss

Prior to the Champions Trophy 2004, Pepsi came up with the Toss Ka Boss campaign. The Toss Ka Boss not only prevents Ganguly from calling at the toss but also mimics the captain’s stunts. Check how the Dada of Indian cricket gets tamed by a pre-teen!

 

7.  Ganguly keeps Irfan Pathan guessing if he is in the team or not!

In another funny Pepsi ad – a part of the Toss Ka Boss series, an upbeat Irfan Pathan is seen collecting Pepsi wrappers in order to win prizes but Ganguly then advises him to even try and win the ultimate title of Toss Ka Boss. Irfan hadn’t bothered to win the main prize as he feels he is a part of the team, but is he? Ganguly keeps him guessing!

 

8.  Dropped Ganguly asks all to cheer for ‘Team India’

For a major part of 2006, Ganguly was dropped from the Indian side. It led to a furore among his fans; however their beloved Dada appeared in a Pepsi ad and asked all to continue backing Team India and assured them that he is practising hard to get back into the side.

 

9.  Ganguly promoting India tour England, 2014

Post retirement, Ganguly became one of the most sought after commentators. Brands continue to cash-in on his popularity and he was seen promoting the Pataudi Trophy 2014 (India tour England 2014). Check why Ganguly feels a five-Test series is the ultimate.

 

10.  Ganguly’s ISL ad

Ganguly the co-owner of Indian Super League (ISL) side Atletico de Kolkata appears in an ad stating the importance of coming first of the first time.
