Twitter war: Ravichandran Ashwin hits back at Rodney Hogg’s criticism of Nagpur pitch

Former Australian fast-bowler Rodney Hogg has become the latest from the cricket community to criticise the pitch.

The recently concluded Nagpur Test between India and South Africa has been in the centre of a storm over the nature of its pitch. Usually, Indian pitches offer turn from Day 3. But with puffs of dust coming out from Day 1 itself, the Nagpur wicket turned out to be a square turner and as a result, the match got over inside three days.

The pitch has come under heavy criticism from cricket fraternity. On the other hand, India’s team director Ravi Shastri and skipper Virat Kohli have vehemently defended it. In the same sequence, former Australian fast-bowler Rodney Hogg has become the latest from the cricket community to criticise the pitch. He tagged ace Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, International Cricket Council (ICC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI’s) official Twitter handles and tweeted on Monday:

Not the one to take his criticism lying down, Ashwin responded to his tweet with a fitting reply. His tweet read:

Ashwin was the Man-of-the-Match in the Nagpur Test with his 12 wickets in the match. He is leading the bowling charts in the series with 24 wickets. The last Test commences in Delhi from December 3. All eyes would be on the match, as fans and cricket experts would be waiting with bated breath to find out how the track behaves.
