Friday, April 24, 2015 marks the 42nd birthday of the legendary cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar. With a career spanning over two decades, Tendulkar is arguably considered to be the best cricketer the world has ever seen, with 100 international centuries under his belt.

From Don Bradman, to Viv Richards, to Sunil Gavaskar, to Sir Garry Sobers, the game has been graced with several brilliant cricketers, but none could match the aura of Tendulkar and the bonding he shares with fans. Also his longevity in the sport is commendable.

Tendulkar made his Test debut at the age of 16 against traditional rivals Pakistan in 1989 and in the same year played his first One-Day International (ODI) against the same opposition. He played 200 Tests and 463 ODIs and has scored 15921 runs and 18426 runs respectively.

The batting legend also became the first player to score a double-century against South Africa in limited-overs cricket. The prolific run-getter finally fulfilled his dream when India lifted the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 under the leadership of MS Dhoni at Wankhede Stadium.

He played his final international game against West Indies at Mumbai, and in November 2013, came to an end one of the most sprawling careers in cricketing history.

The twitterati around the globe wished the Master Blaster on his 42nd birthday.
