New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum played his final innings in international cricket against Australia during the second Test at Christchurch on Monday. After scoring the fastest Test century in the first innings of the match, McCullum started the second innings on a relatively slower note by his standards. He took eight balls to score his first run and then once again started hitting all over the park. However, this time it did not last long.
On the fifth ball of the 36th over bowled by Josh Hazlewood, McCullum got out at the score of 25 from 27 balls. He came down the pitch to slog the delivery on the leg side, only to find David Warner at mid-wicket, who leaped towards his right to complete an amazing catch. This was an emotional moment as the entire crowd stood to bid goodbye to this Kiwi legend. Australian captain Steve Smith came forward and congratulated his Kiwi counterpart on a glittering career. Off the park, McCullum’s fans and people from cricket fraternity reacted to his final innings on social media. Check the best of the tweets here:
