Umpire Vineet Kulkarni will probably be one of the most popular cricket figures in India right now. It’s not often that umpires get the limelight in a country studded with superstar cricketers. Kulkarni, who made a horrendous decision in Dharamsala after he didn’t adjudge JP Duminy leg before, was once again seen trending on Twitter during the first One-Day International (ODI) between India and South Africa in Kanpur. The decision could have gone in batsman’s favour as the angle and the height gave an impression that it could have missed the leg stump. However it was a marginal call and Kulkarni once again decided to rule it in favour of the visiting side.
