The women’s cricket matches get very little attention as compared to men’s cricket games. The glamour quotient is surely very less but they are not very far in terms of the potential. Their game has evolved over the years and it is only a myth that women can’t play competitive cricket. They can, and one such fine example was witnessed in the ongoing Asia Cup tournament during the seventh match between India Women and Pakistan Women. It was Veda Krishnamurthy, who showed a perfect example of slip catching. The match was played at Asian Institute of Technology Ground, Bangkok. Bowling first, Indian Women let Pakistan Women score only 97 in 20 overs with the loss of seven wickets.

Surely, Indian women bowled exceptionally but it was Veda, whose spectacular catch became the main highlight of the match. It was the second ball of the 17th over, bowled by Ekta Bisht to Asmavia Iqbal, who tried to push the flighted delivery towards covers or point but ended up getting an edge. After edging Asmavia’s willow, ball quickly moved towards a bit square but Veda at slip dived on the right side and grabbed the stunner single-handedly. That was truly a sensational catch from Indian women’s cricketer. Asmavia’s wicket was sixth loss for Pakistan. Watch this tremendous catch here.

Further, India Women chased down the total comfortably in 19.2 overs by losing five wickets. The Indian women’s team are currently at the top of points table and have already qualified for final.
