Video: ‘Champion’ Carlos Brathwaite gets a rousing welcome as he joins the Delhi Daredevils squad

The West Indian players are the toast of the town at the moment. The colourful team, which won the ICC World T20 2016 in the city of joy on Sunday for the record second time, has been dancing and making the world dance to the tunes of ‘Champion’ song — Dwayne Bravo’s song which became the unofficial anthem of the team’s win. And now, the hero of the final, Carlos Brathwaite also broke into a ‘Champion’ jig as he joined his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Daredevils’ (DD) squad at a New Delhi hotel. The 27-year old Bajan, who hit four consecutive sixes in the final against England and helped his side chase down 19 in the final over, was given a rousing reception by the hotel staff. The ‘Champion’ song was played in the background and the staff made Brathwaite shake his legs to it. The video was shared by DD’s official Facebook page:

The World T20 fever refuses to die even after the conclusion of the tournament. But with the ninth season of the IPL scheduled to start this weekend, the players of victorious West Indian team have started joining their IPL squads. Brathwaite, who had been bought for a whopping INR 4.20 crores during the auction, will play a huge role for his franchise, which has never won an IPL title.
