Video: David Warner apes MS Dhoni; plays a helicopter shot

The helicopter shot, which has been a treat to watch whenever Indian captain MS Dhoni unleashes it, has become one of the most iconic cricketing shots in the world in last one decade. It was first seen when Dhoni introduced it during the One-Day International (ODI) series between India and England in 2006. Video: Now Virat Kohli joins Tabraiz Shamsi in his ‘BUS DRIVER’ celebration

Many cricketers have tried to emulate it but it’s not an easy task to do. Afghanistan’s opener Mohammad Shahzad, who is a self-confessed Dhoni fan, has tried it with some success. Meanwhile, in the ongoing ninth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), Australian batsman and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner played this shot very easily on the bowling of Kane Richardson while playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Warner easily clipped a delivery towards mid-wicket and just like Dhoni’s helicopter shot, this too went for a big six. Watch how Warner does it here:

Further, Warner went on to play a match winning knock of 92 runs and with his good captaincy and some quality bowling, SRH won the match quite comfortably by 15 runs.
